Are You Born To Be An Athlete?

Blogger:

Guys sorry if I publish my essay, so late... well here's my 1st essay in 4EAL class... its about athlete, cause we all know that the winter Olympics is actually held last month... i think that's all of it.. Enjoy!

Do you want to be an athlete? If I’m going to answer that question, maybe it’s a no. But for others, being an athlete representing their country in an Olympic game or world tournament is a big gratitude. But being a top athlete is not as simple as a 3 step pancake. I believe an athlete must posses these two elements: natural ability and hard work. Your body build, determination and training will help you a lot in this career. But I also affirm that one needs the other one to succeed. Natural ability is not the only necessity to be an athlete in needs back breaking and persistent work. So as much as hard work, sometimes having a natural ability is an advantage.

Being tall or short, thin or thick is sometimes essential for those who want to be a athletes. Let’s have an example: football players are usually broad, strong and gigantic. They have this specific body type because they are to be able to block all the opponents attacks; it will be easy to block the other team and to make the opponent flee away. Runners, they often need to have long legs to be able to stride longer. It will be easy for them to make more laps. Ballerinas, they have to have a thinner and skinnier frame. Big parts of their bodies make them hard to stretch, bend twist and hop. Figure skaters, it’ll be a leg up if the girl in partners is thin and small because it will be easy for the guy to lift or toss her into the air. Basketball players need longer parts of their body to make their power jumps for their dunk. Having a natural ability will make you better than others. To consider, a lot of sports demand a natural ability to be advantageous over others.

Being a good athlete is having a good determination in his or her sport. Athletes aren’t just born to be athletes; they need hard work and determination. I remember an athlete who showed her determination on 2010 winter Olympics from Vancouver Canada. She is an athlete from skateboarding half pipe lady representative. In the middle of the course she made a wrong twist and fell down. Though she knew that that time she obviously lost, she still tried to climb and lift her body up, but too bad she can’t continue the game. She shows that even though she knew that she already lost the event she still tried to finish the goal. That’s what a true athlete is all about; finishing their goals. As well as finishing goals athletes are taught how to be patient and how to be a good sport. Even though an athlete lost a game many times she or he is supposed to be more inspired than depress, that’s what an athlete must possesses.

An exceptional athlete needs a consistent will on his or her routine. Every Olympian has their training, not just an easy pick training, when you say Olympian’s training it will be tough, tiring , backbreaking and consistent training. And when you say consistent it is everyday, almost every time if needed. This year Canada shows how consistent training pays off. We got 14 gold, 7 silvers and 5 bronze on this 2010 Winter Olympics, to sum up we earn 26 awards. Also Canada broke the world record for the most gold medals in Olympics. Let’s set one example, gymnastics need to train everyday. They stretch, jump, run, lift weights and do some balance training. In the movie “Stick It” they showed what these professional gymnastics have to exchange to be able to be on top of the others. These are just few things they have to do to keep on track. Gymnastics is one of the hardest sports in Olympics. They need flexibility, agility, strength, coordination, stamina, balance and have presence of mind. They need to master all these things to be on top. Being consistent sure is hard, but this is just one of the things an athlete must have. Sometimes they have to miss some important things just to be consistent in their trainings. Like the joke says, “Practice makes perfect, but nobody is perfect so why practice?”
Athlete replied, “We don’t practice to be perfect, we practice because we want to be the best, better than anybody else.”

To conclude, I believe an excessive athlete needs both natural ability and handwork. Though we barely know that practice actually builds up an athlete, I believe that if God gave you a natural ability you will be top to others. All athletes need natural ability along with determination and constant training. Nourish what God gave you that’s one of the way to show your thanks to him.

Texting Might Kill You!

Blogger:

Here is my editorial for our magazine. Here I talked about issues in texting... in a car. Our magazine is for teens so obviously we talk about what does the hazards of their doings... Enjoy! I just want to mention... we got a perfect score in our magazine! TEEHEE! Enjoy!

Texting Might Kill You!

Threats & danger in texting behind the wheels.

by: Bryan R. Mesias

Excessive speed, drunk, engine broken or driver inexperience are possible factors to consider in a car accident. Yet another factor is texting while driving.

Texting while driving leads to increased distraction behind the wheels. “Results showed that 37% of students found texting to be “very” or “extremely” distracting while driving a car.” (http://en.wikipedia.org)

“Survey shows 46% of teens admitted to being distracted behind the wheels due to texting. One example of distraction behind the wheels is the which killed 25 passengers. The subsequent investigation revealed that the engineer had sent 45 text messages while operating the train.”

Despite the threats of dangers of texting behind the wheels, about half of teen drivers 16 to 24 say they have texted while driving, compared with 22 percent of drivers 33 to 44. Texting can distract you from seeing and responding to street lights and road signs.

I think schools and other political officials should help by broadcasting this information about driving hazards. Let the people, especially teenager, know how dangerous these little actions are.

I believe teens here in Canada have the intelligence to know actions like this can harm them or even spare others life. Accidents may also cost you a lot of money, and it can even cost you your own life.

Here are three easy tips to avoid that life threatening habit.

1st Tip: If you receive a text, do not open the message yet. Go somewhere else to park or stop for the meantime like car parks or gasoline refilling stations. You can not always do two things at the same time you know.

2nd Tip: If you have a friend with you. Let them answer the message. But if the message is too private, then I prefer you do the 1st tip.

3rd Tip: If the message is really not that important, why text? You don’t want to risk your life for just a single text right?

So teens! Be practical, do not let a message wreck your life and other’s life.

Why don’t girls like me?

It is unrealistic to think that all girls will like you.
By: Michelle F. Baraceros

“Am really impressing her. I told her all about myself. The thing I own, the places I know. She must dying to date me!” A boy said.

You are old enough to date. You like to find someone who is attractive. But each time you tied to start a relationship, you fell crashed and burned. If you like to know a girl better and before you decide to pursue a particular girl, there are some basic skills you need to master. These will help you to be friends with anyone.

Cultivate good manner. Good manner show that you respect others and that you are developing a mature. What girls say: “I definitely find it attractive if a boy showing good manners both in small things, like opening the door for me, and larger things, like being kind and considerate.”

Maintain your personal hygiene. Good hygiene shows respect not only for others but also for you. If you respect yourself, others are more likely to respect you. What girls say: “One boy who was interested in me had really bad breath.”

Cultivate conversation skills. The basic of a lasting relationship is good communication. This involves discussing not only your interests but also the interest of your friend. What girls say: “I am impressed when a boy can converts with me naturally, when he can remember things I told him and can ask questions that keep the conversation moving.”

Applying the above suggestions will help you to enjoy good friendships. However, once you fell that you are ready to start a serious relationship with a particular girl, what should you do?

Take the initiative. If you admire a friend, let her know you are interested in her. What girls say: “I can’t read minds. So if someone wanted to know me, he needs to be honest and straightforward and just tell me.”

Respect the girl’s decision. What if your friend says that she doesn’t want a more serious relationship with you? Just respect her decision. No means no. What girls say: “It irritates me when I say a definite no to a boy but he keeps on trying.”

Some young men fell that they have trouble getting girls to like them. Remember this: How you look on the outside is less important than who you are inside.
